Skype is Microsoft’s main instant messenger. Secret Conversations make use of Signal, the Signal system to send end-to-end encrypted messages, and also enable the timer to establish an expiration date for the message. Facebook offers an additional layer of privacy protection via its Secret Conversations mode.
Supposedly, Facebook or other government officials could access the messages through legal channels. The messages on the app are transmitted using encryption keys, which are controlled by Facebook.
